A Message From Our President
Marissa Kilberg, MD, MSEd
Dear Colleagues,
It’s a pleasure to reconnect as we head into another exciting season of programming with the Philadelphia Endocrine Society – in fact, the 83rd year of operation for the country’s oldest local endocrinology association. We are thrilled to offer another dynamic year of engaging, high-impact programming across a range of adult and pediatric endocrine topics and to continue to think of ways to serve our membership which reaches across the tri-state area, including Philadelphia, South Jersey, and Delaware. We will launch our 2025–2026 lecture series on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, with Sudhaker Rao, MD, Section Head of Bone & Mineral Disorders and Director of the Bone & Mineral Research Laboratory at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Rao will present an important and timely talk on updates to the vitamin D guidelines. Our Annual Symposium will take place the morning of Saturday, November 8, 2025, at The Union League of Philadelphia and will focus on obesity, a topic of growing importance across all areas of endocrinology. Our lecturers Blandine Laferrère, MD, PhD, Melanie Cree, MD, PhD, Anthony Infantolino, MD will take us from definitions and diagnosis through new and upcoming medical and endoscopic interventions.
Additional lectures this season will address a wide range of topics, including PCOS, thyroid disease, type 1 diabetes, congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), and Lp(a) therapeutics. Please visit our Programs page for the complete lecture schedule. We also wanted to take this opportunity to share the New Jersey Association of Endocrinologists Thyroid Neck Ultrasound & FNA Practicum which will take place on November 15th at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott.
As President of PES this year, I warmly invite you to join or renew your membership and take part in this vibrant and growing community. Membership includes access to all eight programs, cocktail receptions and dinner buffets, and the opportunity to connect with colleagues in a collegial and informal setting. All events—except the November symposium and the May fellows’ program—will be held in person at Thomas Jefferson University, beginning with cocktails at 6:00 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM, and the lecture at 7:00 PM.
We’re especially excited this year to emphasize community-building and collaboration between adult and pediatric endocrinology fellows. Look out for upcoming fellowship mixers and opportunities to connect across institutions. If you have ideas to further foster community and collaboration, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d love to hear them. Please also share this information with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, research personnel, and other colleagues who may be interested.
